The Winter Freeze

Posted 18th January 2011 in Nursery Ramblings

In fact reports are showing that this has been the coldest winter for the UK since records began. Some casualties amongst the Agaves I expect, also the extreme cold followed by the sudden increase in temperature has caused the olive trees to shed some leaves. Thankfully these will start shooting again in the spring, and by May/June should be fully laden with glistening silver foliage. If yours have been hit then fear not they will recover. An extra liquid feed and an extra watering or two once the frosts have passed will speed things along. For more information see the olive care notes.
