Agapanthus 'Silver Baby' (African Lily)
Flowering Size Plant
Ultimate growth height 50-60cm
Pale, silvery colour
Compact growth - ideal for a container
Pot size: 3 litre
One of our favourites! Fairly compact habit with multi-stems and lots of gorgeous white flowers that are just flushed with a lick of pale blue. This Agapanthus will steadily flower over a period of time in summer, just snip off any flower stems that have faded, there will be more to come. Flowers on this variety are held particularly open to enhance their star-like qualities.
A fairly new introduction (2001). 'Silver Baby' is great for the front of the border or for growing in containers. Plant in the sunniest spot in a free draining soil. Looks wonderful with soft ornamental grasses. Another one of our favourite agapanthus which we use in abundance in our display gardens at Hampton Court Palace and Chelsea Flower Shows.
Agapanthus like it hot, sunny and well-drained for prolific midsummer flowering. Great in a container or directly in the ground. Feed and water well during the summer months if kept in a container, allow to dry out in-between watering. Be careful not to over-pot to maximise the amount of flower produced. Fully herbaceous in winter.
Height at maturity: 60cm
