Hedychium Auranticum
An upright ginger with long slender leaves with a touch of red at the base. Produces spikes of delicate orange flowers from late summer to autumn.
This orange ginger lily is a very worthy plant to grow and looks fabulous in the 'tropical' border.
Will be happy planted in full sun to partial shade in a sheltered spot. Once frost has blackened the foliage, cut back and apply a thick mulch to protect from the worst of the cold. You could also grow in pots with a weekly feed and move inside over winter once foliage had stated to die back.
